The January 6th, 2017, Kanawha Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (KARC) Installation of Officers Dinner meeting was held at the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, 601 Brooks St., Charleston, WV (KCEAA). The evening began with a Social Time. Incoming President Joe Richards, WV8WVU called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, and asking Bill Holmes, KB8PFC to deliver the Dinner Grace which was followed by all enjoying the abundance of a covered dish foods. The evening was extremely cold, following a 1-3 inched snow falling and some roads still not passable for several to attend. Many thanks for the 18 attending.

 

Business Session: Joe Richards, WV8WVU thanked all the past officers for their endeavors during 2016 (Jim, WV8JS; Mark, KM8G; Ann, KA8ZGY; Paul, W8SHB).

Minutes: Ann, KA8ZGY, distributed the December 2nd, 2016 membership meeting minutes with correction of K8SBH to W8SBH which were reviewed with motion by Bill, KB8PFC, seconded by Terry, WV8V and approved to accept the minutes as revised.

 

Treasurers Report: Ann, KA8ZGY, presented the December 31st, 2016 checking account total as $7,030.93 ($4,550.93 membership and $2,480.00 trailer fund). It was moved by Paul, W8SBH, seconded by Bill, KB8PFC and approved to accept the treasurers report as presented.

Repeater Committee: Bill, K8BS, no present, however, repeater continues operation with no issues.

Charleston Hamfest Committee: Ann, KA8ZGY, hamfest scheduled Charleston Civic Center, March 25, 2017.

KARC Communications Trailer: Edsil, KA8ISQ, not present – move to KARC BOD to oversee at this time.

 

Field Day 2017: Jason, W8KTM; not present and reported he will be attending Master Classes on Friday evenings and not available – move to KARC BOD to oversee at this time.

 

WV Army Nation Guard Amateur Radio Support/Testing: Rob, W8XRW, reports a field testing session schedule for tomorrow, Jan 7th, 1:00 PM using repeater 14.688 with contact at and to all Local Armories.

The December 3rd, 2016 event from the Armories utilized 2 meter, simplex and 40M HF, with attempt at 80M. They were able to contact the ARRL Section Manger WV, Phillip, N8SFO in southern WV.

QRZ Issue – Bill, KC8PFC, reports there continued to be equipment being advertise to sell under his call on QRZ. He indicated he is not receiving assistance for QRZ or the FCC. It was suggested the he contact the FUSION Center who may be able to assist – he was provided the specifics.
