The April 6th, 2018 membership meeting of the Kanawha Amateur Radio Club, Inc., (KARC) was held at the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA), 601 Brooks St., Charleston, WV, 25301.Social Time: 6:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Program: EME –(Bouncing your radio signal off the moon) Clark Stewart, W8TM – Clark shared it takes 1.3 seconds for your signal to arrove at the moon and 1.3 seconds to return. This was first done by the military in 1947 and by amateurs in 1953. For more information try http://w8tn.blogspot.com

MEMBERSHIP Meeting: The membership meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM by President, Terry Sanner, WV8V, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and introduction of attendees.

Minutes: Ann, KA8ZGY, distributed the minutes of the March 2nd, 2018 Membership meeting, It was moved by Dave, W8IW, seconded by Fred, WV8FV to accept minutes as presented, motion carried.

 

Treasurers/Finance Committee Report: Alan, KB8VDA, presented the treasurers report for April 6, 2018 with Checking Account balance of $7.359.86 and $4,100.00 being the Emergency Trailer Fund. It was moved by Ann, KA8ZGY, seconded by Paul, W8SBH, to accept treasurer’s report as presented, motion carried.

BUSINESS SESSION:

 

CUB Scouts: Terry, WV8V, announced that KARC has been asked to present a 45 minute amateur radio program to the Cub Scouts during the week of June 4-8, 2018. It appears June 7th is the best day from 8:30 Am – 3:00 PM. Contact Terry if want to volunteer and talk with cub scouts.

Letter of Thanks: terry, WV8V, reports a thank you for a $100.00 trailer fund donation was sent to the the uncle of the 9 year girl who passes her General Class license earlier in February.

Charleston Hamfest Committee: Terry, WV8V, reports he received a Congratulatory Plaques from the Hamfest Committee for the many years he has chaired the VE sessions, and for his 187 tests participation.

KARC Table Charleston Hamfest: Terry, Wv8V, reported donation sales, patches and 50/50 sales was $1,329.00 and was able to reimburse Dave, WA8WV, for his purchase of the new rotor.

 

2018 Standing and AD Hoc Committees: attached to back of minutes: Terry, WV8V, reviewed the list noting the need for a volunteer committee chairperson for the Electro-Magnetic Interference Committee (E-MI), and the Historian. As Historian, there are several file cabinets of KARC record which will need to be stored.

Field Day (FD) QSL Cards / Equipment: Terry, WV8V, is requesting information of the location of the FD QSL cards, Betty Hunter, KA8MLP is looking through K8BS files; Mark. KM8G is testing the installation of PSK-31 software on the IC 7300 radio and has made contacts.

 

Field Day (FD) Planning Meeting: Scheduled for Panera Bread, Southridge, May 10th, 2018 at 6:00 PM – everyone is welcome.

KARC June Meeting:  Scheduled for Coonskin Park, Site 73.   Bring your own refreshments.

Communication Trailer:It was reported the prospective trailers were sold with the business and none are available.

Repeater Site:   Terry, Wv8V reports Jim Mangus is looking for the keys to the site and codes to controller for the repeater.

There being no other business it was the meeting be adjourned.   (Attendance 20)
