The April 5th, 2019 Kanawha Amateur Radio Club (KARC) meeting was held at the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority (KCEAA), 601 Brooks St., Charleston, WV, 25301.
Social Time - 6:00 – 6:30 PM: KARC members and guest gathered for amateur and other information sharing.

PROGRAM: HEAT SAFETY – Rodney Hathaway, KE8KNW, shared symptoms of several versions of Heat Safety i.e. Heat Cramps; Heat Exhaustion, and Heat Stroke. Discusses outside activities which could lead to heart stroke, length of time to occur, symptoms, and actions to take when occurs. Prevention is to drink plenty of H2O; limit length of time our door; wear light cotton clothing. For more information - Google - Heat Exhaustion.

MEMBERSHIP Meeting : The membership meeting was called to order at 6:35 PM by President, Terry Sanner, WV8V, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the introduction of those present.

Announcements & Comments:  
   **
CPR/FIRST AID Course:Terry WV8V, announced if others are interested in the course, notify him and he will arrange, if 10 are
       interested.

** NET CONTROLS –ARES®/RACES Sunday Net – on HOLD until ARRL (EC) for Kanawha County is appointed – Terry will contact Mike for
       update.
   ** NET CONTROLS – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for KARC NETS – contact Jim Damron, N8TMW -

       that all those checking-in should start being a future Net Control as you will need this when an event occurs and need to pass traffic.

   ** Kanawha ARES® - meetings the third (3rd) Thursday of the month at the 911 Center. The KARC Nets will collect and pass ARES®
           information. Terry shared there is still no appointed EC for Kanawha County. ARRL ARES® courses are not available at this time.

   ** Putnam County VE Group - Test sessions are held on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the CAMC Teays Valley Hospital, 7:00 PM.

   ** Coal County ARC: Parks on the Air event, June 1st at Chief Logan State Park, a family picnic along with a foxhunt for everybody.

Minutes: Ann, KA8ZGY, distributed minutes of March 1st, 2019 KARC membership meeting It was moved to accept minutes by Dave, W8IW, seconded by Russ, KE8DMB, motion carried.
Treasurers Report: Jennifer, KE8JXD reported City National checking balance of $2,345.52, (Membership $1,083.23 and Trailer $1,262.25). Reimbursement for membership cards Terry $55.80; Paid Equipment insurance $178.00; Dues received $125.00; and 50/50 $40.00). It was moved by Dave, W8IW, seconded by Fred, WV8FV and approved to accept treasurer’s report as presented.

WV AuxCom Training; Terry, WV8V, reports AuxCom Training session scheduled in Parkersburg April 13-14 (25 currently registered). Contact is Jim Mangus to register and send him copy of certificates and amateur license. The group is attempting to coordinate with all services i.e. Salvation Army, State Police, etc. to participate in this training. Requirements are ICS 100/200/700/800 – must produce certificate of completion to attend.
Communication Trailer (NEW): Terry, WV8V, reports still in process to acquire title with sellers contact to owner resulting with not displaying trailer at the Charleston Hamfest on March 23, 2019.

Repeater: Terry reported Jim, WB8YST and Jeff Clark, K8JAC, (has key) will do the coordination with Jim, N8TMW for repairs at the site.

Technician Cram Course: Terry, WV8V, announced six (6) took course.

Hamfest – VE Testing – Terry, WV8V, announced 12 took tests with 10 passing (Tech 4 / General 4 / Extra 2)

Boy & Girl Scouts: Terry, WV8V, believed one (1) scout attended the Hamfest – other attending did not see any other scouts.

NWS: Terry, WV8V, reports Tony Edwards, KJ4FYM, planning a NWS/AMATEUR event in April/May, and possibly a Skywarn Refresher course, if the members are interested.

2019 KARC Program Suggestion: Russ, KE8DMB, Program Manager – contact Russ with suggestions..

School Amateur Radio Education: Steve, KD8VNN – contact Steve to volunteer to help for 2 meter demos.

Charleston Hamfest, March 23, 2019: Terry, WV8V, reported good response for donations for the KARC Table and extras are stored in trailer. Ann, KA8ZGY, shared the WVSARC planning meeting had good turn out, and next meeting will be at the Ripley Hamfest, May 5th.

KARC QSL Cards: Terry, WV8V reported that Betty found about 1,000 current cards and will not need to replace with a new card.

PEAK to PEAK: Terry, WV8V, reported not further action at this time- still planning of the 2 meter Simplex sometime soon, more information in near future.

KARC Field Day (FD) Equipment: Terry, WV8V, reported the FD is housed at the Scottish Rights Hall and Joe, WV8WVU, reports we will need to find a new location.   Terry will check with KCEAA management for possible small room.
